Since 2015, I’ve been moonlighting as a translator and helping global brands localise their comms for the huge Brazilian market. Snapchat was a major client for four years, and today I’m the lead writer for Vimeo, Four Seasons, 2K Games and the NBA – working with other companies on an ad hoc basis.

Content such as ad copy often requires not just translation, but transcreation. Wordplay, analogies or references can easily get lost in a direct translation, due to peculiarities of language or cultural differences.

Transcreators like myself can make up for that by finding a different way to say the same thing, thanks to creative flair and an intimate understanding of not just the target language, but also the target culture.

In my case, this local knowledge covers Brazil, where I grew up until I was 23, as well as Australia, where I’ve been living since 2006. As for my creativity, I exercise it every day in my career as an advertising copywriter.

NAATI Translator

My translation journey started by getting accredited with Australia’s NAATI. From 2015 to 2022, I was a Professional Translator from Portuguese to English, certification code CPN0HA21R.

I’ve decided not to renew this certification, but as a NAATI translator I provided official, certified translations of all kinds of documents, including those often required by the immigration for visa purposes.
